Sleep Loss, Emotion, and Memory Processing

The Center for Sleep and Cognition (CfSC) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is conducting a study exploring the impact of sleep, sleep loss, and recovery sleep on emotional processing and memory consolidation. The study takes place at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Participants are asked to track their sleep for 1 week prior to participating in the study using an online survey system. They then participate in an overnight sleep or sleep deprivation study at in the CfSC (part of the Clinical Research Center) at BIDMC. Participants arrive to the lab at approximately 9pm and will be dismissed at approximately 3pm the next day. Participants complete measures of emotional processing throughout the study protocol. Subjects must be between the ages of 18 to 35 and should not have any prior diagnosis of dementia or sleep problems.  Individuals taking medications for cognitive impairment or sleep problems are not eligible.
